Excited-state hydroxyl maser catalogue from the methanol multibeam survey – I. Positions and variability
Wepresent the results of the first complete unbaised survey of theGalactic plane for 6035-MHz excited-state hydroxyl (ex-OH) masers undertaken as part of the methanol multibeam (MMB) survey. These observations cover the Galactic longitude ranges 186◦ < l < 60◦ including the Galactic Centre. We report the detection of 127 ex-OH masers within the survey region, 47 being new sources. The positions...
متن کاملHOPS Short Course: Traveling Water Waves
In this contribution we discuss Higher Order Perturbation of Surfaces (HOPS) methods with particular application to traveling water waves. The Transformed Field Expansion method (TFE) is discussed as a method for handling the unknown fluid domain. The procedures for computing Stokes waves and Wilton Ripples are compared. The Lyapunov-Schmidt procedure for the Wilton Ripple is presented explicit...
متن کاملWater maser emission in IC 342
The detection of 22GHz water vapor emission from IC 342 is reported, raising the detection rate among northern galaxies with IRAS point source fluxes S100μm > 50 Jy to 16%. The maser, associated with a star forming region ∼10–15 west of the nucleus, consists of a single 0.5 kms wide feature and reaches an isotropic luminosity of 10 L⊙ (D=1.8Mpc). If the time variability is intrinsic, the maser ...
متن کاملAccurate rest frequencies of methanol maser and dark cloud lines
We report accurate laboratory measurements of selected methanol transition frequencies between 0.834 and 230 GHz in order to facilitate astronomical velocity analyses. New data have been obtained between 10 and 27 GHz and between 60 and 119 GHz. Emphasis has been put on known or potential interstellar maser lines as well as on transitions suitable for the investigation of cold dark clouds. Beca...
متن کاملHOPS Short Course: Stability of Traveling Water Waves
In this contribution we present Higher Order Perturbation of Surfaces (HOPS) methods as applied to the spectral stability problem for traveling water waves. The Transformed Field Expansion method (TFE) is used for both the traveling wave and its spectral data. The Lyapunov-Schmidt reductions for simple and repeated eigenvalues are compared. The asymptotics of modulational instabilities are disc...
